And, the fact we cango from 'Cowboys to the lovely balled "Le Ballet D'or" is incredible. So, when I turned on 1492, my mouth dropped. The Adam's lyrics and voals are filled with so much anger and emotion, you can't help but me moved by it. A few more sips of coffee later and i could not put the stuff down.
This was a bit heavier than alot of there stuff. It starts out great, but the end just gets weird. I also find that some of the guitar solos in "Cowboys" and "1492" seem a bit self-indulgent at times (Don't get me wrong, I love these two songs)I think this might be the best Counting Crows album since "Recovering the Satellites." What makes this album for me is how great the great songs are. Even the weaker songs still have something to offer This album shows the range of styles of the Counting Crows, and is worth a buy. When I was little, I hated Coffee. It was not so much that it was disgusting, it was just that I did not get it. I did not like it for the simple fact that I was not used to it. Without a doubt, "Cowboys" is the best song on the album.
This Album shows a evolution of the Counting Crows, and features the widest range of music styles I have seen on a Counting Crows Album. "Le Ballet D'or" is another different song for the Crows. I am not too crazy about "Anyone But you". But, as iA listened to the album again and again, i think I udnerstood what "Saturday nights, and Sunday Mornings' is really about.Alot of bands like to do the same style of music, over and over again. As much as I hate to admit it, I cried the first time I heard it.The one song I really do not like on this album is "On a Tuesday in Amsterdam Long Ago" really overstays its welcome.
it was so different from anything I had tried before. "When I Dream of Michael Angelo" is another one of my favorites. Alot of bands like to totally change their sound, this is not the case with this Album. This was not Counting Crows. This is not the case for this album.
That said, some bright spots I really enjoyed were Insignificant, which was vintage, and Le Ballet d'Or, which was just beautiful. Just don't expect too much. After repeated listening I would say Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is not their finest work. If you're a fan there's no reason not to pick this up. - John The Saturday half is just noisy and the Sunday half felt watered down. The overall album seemed weak.
I highly recommend it. This is a great addition to their discography. The CC could never disappoint and they didn't with this album. I am a huge fan of their unique sound.
Very glad I bought it. They may have taken quite a hiatus before releasing this latest full length CD, but they do not miss a beat. It is the same sound I fell in love with more than 15 years ago; just new favorite songs to sing along with.
it rocks but doesn't blow you away and it is great for background party music. my husband plays it all the time and he is 61 years old. we like this cd very much. it's just what we expected; typical counting crows songs and sound but if you like them, it is a great cd.
